I am attracted to people with a good personality and not people with good looks. Is this "attraction" a sin and how do I stop feeling attracted to that person?
There is nothing wrong in finding positive qualities in a person, which increases our respect for the person. Complementing them and letting them know about their good qualities is a great thing to do. But again, when you say you are attracted, we have to keep a word of caution in mind. If the good qualities of that person makes you want for a romantic relationship with that person, it is a wise thing to not to go along with your feelings. Having good friends and healthy friendships is a good thing to do. But if we try to develop a romantic relationship with a person at a young age, it may prove to be an unnecessary distraction for us. As a yougster, there is a lot to do with our academics, character development, learning, improving our skills and talents, spiritually growing etc. It is always wise to avoid unnecessary distractions.
If you feel this attraction, the best thing to do is to ignore it. Replace it with the better and meaningful things you can be doing. Focus your attention and energy there.
Another important thing to be doing is to share it with people who will be able to give Godly counsel. Sharing it with your friends may result in them encouraging you to pursue such relationships for fun's sake and you may get carried away. So if you are sharing it with someone, share it with someone who can give you good and godly counsel on the matter.
Setting goals is another area you should be doing right now, so you know clearly that there are things that really require your focus and attention. A realisation that your time now is really valuable is a good thing to do.
Take the matter to the Lord in prayer on a daily basis and try to develop a healthy friendship with that person just like with anyone else.
